Unfi Security Gateway (Preview)

Description

The UniFi Security Gateway extends the UniFi Enterprise System to provide cost-effective, reliable routing and advanced security for your network. Unifi Security Gateway does not output CEF by default, Logstash is used to parse message into CEF for this connector. By connecting your CEF logs to Azure Sentinel, you can take advantage of search & correlation, alerting, and threat intelligence enrichment for each log.

1. Linux Syslog agent configuration
Install and configure the Linux agent to collect your Common Event Format (CEF) Syslog messages and forward them to Azure Sentinel. > Notice that the data from all regions will be stored in the selected workspace
1.1 Select or create a Linux machine
Select or create a Linux machine that Azure Sentinel will use as the proxy between your security solution and Azure Sentinel this machine can be on your on-prem environment, Azure or other clouds.
1.2 Install the CEF collector on the Linux machine
Install the Microsoft Monitoring Agent on your Linux machine and configure the machine to listen on the necessary port and forward messages to your Azure Sentinel workspace. The CEF collector collects CEF messages on port 514 TCP. > 1. Make sure that you have Python on your machine using the following command: python -version. > 2. You must have elevated permissions (sudo) on your machine.
Run the following command to install and apply the CEF collector:
1.3 Install Elastic Logstash on the Linux Machine
Install Logstash on your Linux machine and use the provided configuration to parse the messages. > 1. Make sure that you have Java on your machine using the following command: java -version. > 2. Install Logstash using the instrcutions provided at https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/installing-logstash.html. > 3. Enable the Logstash service to auto start.
Run the following command to download the provided configuration
1.4 Optional: Download the configuration to collect NetFlow
Unifi Security Gateway supports sending NetFlow logs. If you wish to collect these you will need an additional Logstash configuration.
Run the following command to download the provided NetFlow configuartion
2. Forward Unifi Security Gateway logs to Logstash
Configure the USG for Remote logging.
2.1 Configure the USG to send logs via syslog to Logstash using port 5514.

2.2 Configure the USG o log firewall
Go to Settings -> Routing and Firewall -> Firewall -> Settings Set Default Action Logging to enabled for WAN, LAN and Guest Rules. Click Apply Changes
2.3 Optional: Configure DNS log collection.

3. Validate connection
Follow the instructions to validate your connectivity: Open Log Analytics to check if the logs are received using the CommonSecurityLog schema. >It may take about 20 minutes until the connection streams data to your workspace. If the logs are not received, run the following connectivity validation script: > 1. Make sure that you have Python on your machine using the following command: python -version >2. You must have elevated permissions (sudo) on your machine
